Highways England has sent us details of new and ongoing roadworks that promise to make the new year an interesting challenge for drivers.
There are five main areas where road works are scheduled. These involve lane closures, diversions and overnight closures and in some cases will last until the end of March 2016.
A1307 Girton Interchange and Huntingdon Road
Repairs and refurbishment of the Huntingdon Road in and out of Cambridge are expected to last until the end of March. This involves a day-time speed limit and two overnight closures – dates not yet known. These works are already taking place but will be suspended between Christmas and 4th January.
A14 Eastbound between Histon and Milton
Resurfacing work starts 11th January for one week. Involves overnight closures from 8.00pm until 6.00am.
A14 Eastbound from Hemingford Grey to Bar Hill
Resurfacing resumes on 4th April for five nights. Eastbound carriageway closed between 8.00pm and 6.00am.
A14 Girton Interchange to Horningsea
Replacement of the central barrier begins 11th January for 8 weeks. Lane closures.
M11 Madingley Road exit slip
Resurfacing begins 22nd January for five consecutive weekends. Closures from Friday nights 10.00pm until Monday morning 5.00am.
