Excavation of Hatton’s Road ponds

northstowefrom Andy Lawson, Projects Director at Gallagher
Work on excavating the two large ponds beside the B1050 Hatton’s Road has now started and is expected to last 6 months. The ponds provide essential flood mitigation for Longstanton village as well as new habitats for water voles and kingfishers.

HGVs will access the Ponds area via the roundabout at the southern end of the West Longstanton Bypass. The HGVs will travel along the Bypass and enter the Northstowe site at the current site entrance to the former golf club. They will return along the same route. HGVs will be on the roads from 0800 to 1800 Monday to Friday (and Saturday 0800 to 1300). There are wheel washing facilities at both ends of the route and a road sweeper will also be used to help clear mud off the roads.
