  • Opening hours doubling

The Post Office will open a new-style Post Office ‘local’ service at Longstanton Post Office, 10 High Street, Longstanton, Cambridge, CB24 3BP on Wednesday 27 July at 1pm.

Post Office Services will be provided from a low-screened, Post Office service point integrated into the retail counter Services will be available: Monday to Sunday: 8am – 8pm.

This is an extra 46 hours and 30 minutes a week including all-day Sunday and Thursday and Saturday afternoons. The branch will open earlier and close significantly later. It would also mark an end to lunchtime closing. This will make it more convenient for customers to visit.

The branch closes for refurbishment on Tuesday 19 July at 5.30pm. Alternative branches in the area include:

  • Willingham Post Office, 15 High Street, Willingham, Cambridge, CB24 5ES
  • Oakington Post Office, 27 Long Stanton Road, Oakington, Cambridge, CB24 3BB

Longstanton will be a local plus branch with enhanced local services. Customers will still be able to transact manual banking, Transcash, and Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide International Parcel Services. Cheques will still be accepted as a method of payment.

The local style format is a more modern way of offering Post Office services, but it in no way compromises the professional service standards that customers rightly expect in all of our branches. The open-plan counter will makes it easier for staff and customers to have discreet conversations. Customers will also be asked to stand back from the counter when awaiting service. Staff are fully aware of the need to respect customer privacy and confidentiality.

Alan Ridoutt, Post Office Area Manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

The modernised Longstanton Post Office will be delighted to welcome customers to the newly refurbished branch. Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals. Other services include Post Office Card Account withdrawals, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
